Kath Proudfoot - F36 Discus & Shot

 

Kath is a Para athletics F36 athlete, an ambulant Cerebral Palsy (or similar) class.

 

Kath began athletics in 2005 at a relatively mature age (28 years), but progressed rapidly through the F36 rankings. Alison worked closely with Kath and her home based coach Alan Makin until 2010 when Kath relocated to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra to work with Alison until 2011. During this time Kath improved her discus from 23.96m to 26.67m and Shot from 8.35m to 9.98m.

 

Kath's major athletics achievements (most recent first) include:

  • 2012 London Paralympic Games Bronze medallist (F35/36 Discus) - 25.32m
  • 2012 London Paralympic Games 4th Place (F35/36 Shot) - 9.76m
  • 2011 IPC Athletics World Champs, Christchurch NZ Bronze medallist (F36 Shot) - 24.52m
  • 2011 IPC Athletics World Champs, Christchurch NZ 4th Place (F35/36 Shot) - 9.13m
  • 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games Silver medallist (F35/36 Discus) - 23.96m
  • 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games 4th place (F35/36 Shot) - 8.35m
  • 2006 IPC Athletics World Champs, Assen Holland Silver medallist, (F35/36 Shot) - 8.59m
  • 2006 IPC Athletics World Champs, Assen Holland Bronze medallist (F35/36/38 Discus) - 20.86m
